Italian airports welcomed 16,5 million passengers in April

At least 16,5 million passengers were on airports in Italy last April, surpassing the volume recorded in the same month of 2019, before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Italian Association of Airport Managers (Assaeroporti), the number represents an increase of 21,7% compared to April 2022 and 2,5% more than in 2019.

International passenger traffic totaled 10,7 million travelers, a 30% growth compared to last year, but a 1,6% drop compared to April 2019. Domestic passengers totaled 5,8 million, surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 11%.

Traffic in the first quarter of 2023 returned to almost pre-Covid levels, reaching 52,3 million passengers, a drop of 2,4 percentage points compared to the same period in 2019.
