Brazil and Italy exchange information in the political-military field

According to the Italian ambassador, this type of mechanism exists between Italy and a limited number of countries

Representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Brazil and Italy held the 14st political-military dialogue meeting between the two countries last Monday (1), in Brasília.

According to the Italian ambassador to Brazil, Antonio Bernardini, the consultation marks a “new step forward in relations between the two countries”. “This mechanism exists between Italy and a limited number of countries and allows a careful examination of the political situation on the most important international boards,” said the diplomat.

According to Bernardini, the meeting was an “important exchange of information between representatives of the ministries about the choices of the respective armed forces, called to operate in increasingly complex international scenarios”.

Brasilia and Rome have given several signs of rapprochement in recent months, and in January the South American country received, for the first time in history, a visit from a Minister of Defense from the European nation, Elisabetta Trenta, who was scheduled to return to Brazil in April. The position is currently held by Lorenzo Guerini.

Italy has several companies in the sector operating in the Brazilian market, such as the aerospace and defense conglomerate Leonardo.
