The Consul General of Italy in São Paulo, Filippo La Rosa, lamented this Sunday (16) the death of the mayor of the capital of São Paulo, Bruno Covas, victim of cancer in the digestive system.
In an official note published on Twitter, the diplomat expressed, “with deep emotion”, his “deepest condolences on the death of Mayor Bruno Covas”.
“At this very sad moment, we all express our sincere condolences to family, friends and the millions of citizens of the largest Italian city outside of Italy”, he adds.
La Rosa also highlighted that “Covas has always shown himself to be close and sensitive to the needs and desires of the Italian community of São Paulo”.
The Supreme Court reaffirmed: citizenship is born with the person.

"Her image will always be remembered with affection and appreciation for her dedication and competence, as well as for the extreme dignity and courage with which she faced the months of her illness," concluded the statement published on behalf of the consul, the staff of the Italian Consulate General in São Paulo, and the Italian community of the city of São Paulo.
Covas died this Sunday (16), at the age of 41, after a long battle against cancer in the digestive system that metastasized to the bones and liver. (ANSA)
