The Italian-Brazilian lawyer Marcio Louzada Carpena, 49, died this Friday (7) in a plane crash in Barra Funda, west of São Paulo.
O Italian consulate The Italian Consulate General in Porto Alegre mourned the death of their compatriot. "The Italian Consulate General in Porto Alegre deeply regrets the tragic death of the Italian lawyer and native of Rio Grande do Sul, Márcio Carpena, which occurred today in São Paulo. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this time of grief. 🖤," the statement said.
One of Carpena's passions was traveling the world. And he was proud of his Italian passport and made a point of showing it off, even posting photos of it on his Instagram.

Professional trajectory
Carpena graduated from PUC-RS in 1999 and had a master's degree in civil procedural law. He worked in the area of civil litigation and in mediation and arbitration institutes. He was a professor at PUC-RS and at the School of Magistracy. He was president of the Brazilian Academy of Civil Procedural Law between 2003 and 2009 and lectured at national and international conferences.
He ran a law firm specializing in corporate law and dispute resolution. In a statement, Carpena Advogados said it was supporting the family and collaborating with the authorities.
Aircraft and investigation
The plane, a King Air F90 manufactured in 1981, had capacity for eight people and was acquired in December by Máxima Inteligência Operações Estruturadas LTDA. Its Airworthiness Verification Certificate was valid until 2025.
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) sent investigators from the Seripa IV to determine the cause of the accident. Pilot Gustavo Medeiros also died in the accident.
