Citizenship fee
Since January 1, 2025, the new fee for recognition of Italian citizenship by descent (iure sanguinis) is in force. The amount was adjusted from 300 to 600 euros.
Payment must be made exclusively in reais, according to the daily exchange rate available on the consulate's website. The measure also covers appointments made before the date, but with service scheduled for 2025.
Change in passport scheduling
Starting February 1st, the Consulate in São Paulo will adopt a new experimental system for scheduling first passports.
Unlike the current model, the schedules will be made available all at once, in a “click day”, the date of which will be announced in advance. The emergency channel will continue to operate normally for proven immediate cases.
Citizenship Scheduling
The January waiting list for applications for Italian citizenship by descent at the Consulate in São Paulo is now available. If the slots are filled, a new list will be published in early February.
