Brazilian filmmaker Kleber Mendonça Son, author of films such as “O Som ao Redor”, “Aquarius” and “Bacurau”, was chosen to join the jury of the 81st edition of Venice Film Festival, which takes place between August 28th and September 7th.
The nine-member panel is responsible for choosing the winners of the coveted Golden Lion and other awards from one of the three main world cinema shows, alongside Cannes and Berlin.
The jury was announced this Wednesday (10) by the Venice Biennale, organizer of the festival, and also includes filmmakers Giuseppe Tornatore (Italy), Abderrahmane Sissako (Mauritania), Agnieszka Holland (Poland), Andrew Haigh (United Kingdom), James Gray (USA) and Julia von Heinz (Germany) and Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi
The presidency of the jury will be French actress Isabelle Huppert. The winners of the 81st Venice Festival will be announced at the event's closing ceremony, on September 7, in the Great Room of the Cinema Palace. (HANDLE)
