According to Sky TG24, Dariya Derkach won the gold medal in the triple jump at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The Italian athlete, born in 1993, also set a personal record with a jump of 14,60 m, the fourth in her series. The silver medal went to Belgian Saliyya Guisse and the bronze to Bulgarian Aleksandra Nacheva. Erika Saraceni finished in 12th place, out of the final round after her third jump.
Italy placed two athletes in the 200-meter final. Fausto Desalu won his semifinal with 20:20.08 and Filippo Dezza set a personal record with 57:35, the tenth fastest time qualifying for the final. Eloisa Coiro advanced to the women's 800-meter final with a third-place finish in her semifinal, in 1:74. "It will be a beautiful final, I have nothing to lose," said the athlete. Francesco Pernici finished fifth in the 800 meters.
Also advancing to the final were Osama Zoghlami, Ala Zoghlami and Bouih in the 3.000-meter steeplechase, Asia Tavernini and Idea Pieroni in the high jump, and Giovanni Frattini in the javelin throw. Sara Fantini won the silver medal in the hammer throw.
