According to Sky TG24, Spain has published a decree authorizing the checking of documents of Italian citizens upon arrival in the country, both at airports and on sea routes, until September 7th. The Spanish Interior Minister signed the order citing a threat defined as serious and current to public order, linked to travel on flights and sea routes from Italy. Between 5% and 10% of travelers are expected to present documents. On the Linate-Madrid flight covered by the report, no passengers were approached.

The measure is a response to the blocking of the Schengen agreements decreed by the Italian government after the large wave of migrants in Ceuta.
