According to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, dozens of Moroccan families are posting photos and appeals on social media such as Facebook and Instagram in an attempt to locate missing relatives after the mass crossing to Ceuta. Last week, approximately 72 people swam across the border between Morocco and the Spanish city. Since then, many have not been heard from. Eighty-two bodies arrived at the former Military Hospital building, where a team of six forensic experts is conducting autopsies. Four specialists have joined the two already present in Ceuta.
The identification of the deceased is done through fingerprinting and biological analysis. By the time this edition of the newspaper went to press, four bodies had been identified using these methods.
