In five months, the Guarda di Finanza seized 20 tons of fuel and charged 265 people with tax fraud in Italy.

According to the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, the Guarda di Finanza (Italian Financial Police) carried out 4.800 interventions in the fuel sector between March 1st and July 31st, 2026, seizing more than 20 million kilograms of energy products and reporting 265 people to the Italian courts. Fraudulent consumption of more than 6,5 million kilograms was recorded. The actions included combating so-called designer fuels, fuels fraudulently labeled with other names to evade tax obligations, as well as discovering clandestine depots and irregular gas stations.

Regarding price transparency, 3.428 inspections were carried out at gas stations during the same period, with 2.279 infractions recorded against 937 operators.
