Italy wants to export the Albanian deportation model to the entire EU.

According to RaiNews, Italy has prepared a dossier for the European summit on August 4th proposing the creation of deportation hubs in countries outside the European Union, financed and coordinated by the bloc. The model is the agreement already in place with Albania, where irregular migrants without the right to remain in Europe would be held while awaiting removal. The proposal gains traction after the crisis in Ceuta, when thousands of migrants from Morocco swam into Spanish territory.

At the heart of the debate are politics and law: the EU Court of Justice will still rule in September on the legality of Albanian centers.
