According to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, Viola Pelicani, a 34-year-old Italian teacher originally from Varese who has lived in Medellín for three years, recounted to the publication the moment when the 7,4 magnitude earthquake shook the Colombian city. She and her husband ran out of their apartment, barefoot, with their little dog in their arms.

Pelicani stated that he had never experienced such an intense tremor in Italy. His account illustrates the impact of the earthquake on the Italian community residing in Colombia. The magnitude of 7,4 classifies the event among earthquakes considered major, capable of causing severe structural damage and provoking panic even among those far from the epicenter.
