According to the RaiNews portal, Italy has temporarily suspended its membership in the Gaza Peace Board, an organization created by Donald Trump. Giorgia Meloni stated that there is an incompatibility between the Board's statutes and Article 11 of the Italian Constitution, which allows for the cession of parts of sovereignty only under conditions of parity between states. "It is not a smart choice to exclude oneself," said the Prime Minister, but added that the country needs more time before signing.
Beyond the legal issue, there is a political problem at stake: Vladimir Putin's presence in the organization is generating resistance within the government itself. Meloni and the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, discussed the matter and, according to parliamentary sources, reached "maximum agreement" on their views.
