According to the TGcom24 portal, Cristiano Giamporcaro, a 29-year-old filmmaker from Caltanissetta, Sicily, died after being struck by the propeller of a tourist boat while swimming in the sea off Punta Sottile, Lampedusa. The young man was accompanied by a woman, who reportedly decided to return to the beach shortly after entering the water. Giamporcaro remained in the sea signaling his presence with a buoy. According to initial reports, the boat, with two tourists on board, struck him. His body was recovered by the Coast Guard with the support of a specialized private vessel.
