According to the Open Online website, a driver ran over six cyclists with his car in reverse in Lanzo Torinese, in the Turin region, on Saturday, August 8th. After hitting them, the man attempted to flee, but returned at high speed and hit them a second time. Four were injured, suffering trauma and multiple fractures. One is hospitalized in critical condition at the CTO hospital in Turin, with a guarded prognosis. Two were transferred by helicopter to the CTO; the other two were taken to the San Giovanni Bosco hospital.
The confusion began during an overtaking maneuver. The driver honked insistently as he passed the group of cyclists. One of them raised his arms in protest, and the man reacted by braking sharply, reversing, and accelerating towards the group.
