According to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, journalist Selvaggia Lucarelli dedicated a lengthy article in her newsletter “Vale Tutto” to the Ranucci-Lavitola case. She points to the presenter's relationships with interns and sources for his reports, the blurring of personal and professional boundaries, the construction of the “Report” brand linked to his image, and his friendship with Lavitola as central issues. Lucarelli writes that she always had “many reservations, both personal and professional,” about him.
"Report" is an investigative journalism program on Rai, the Italian public broadcaster, and Ranucci is its presenter. Lucarelli says she decided to speak about the issue after the presentation of Rai's programming schedule for the summer of 2025, when Ranucci did not appear in protest against what she considered a weakening of the program. She claims that anyone who challenges a report on "Report" risks being treated as an enemy and part of a system of pressure.
Lucarelli also reports that a friend, who remains anonymous, said she had a relationship with the presenter, which ended because of the way he conducted his work and personal life. The same woman reportedly said that other female employees were dismissed and then reinstated in the newsroom. In 2021, an alleged Me Too case against Ranucci emerged from an anonymous dossier.
