According to the RaiNews portal, the Federacciai board of directors authorized President Antonio Gozzi to submit a letter of intent to the relevant authorities to resume and relaunch the former Ilva de Taranto. The group includes companies such as Arvedi, Marcegaglia, Feralpi, Duferco, Beltrame, and Lucchini, "practically all of them," according to Gozzi. The mandate includes verifying with the government the existence of conditions that would make the industrial operation viable.
The situation is urgent: a decision by the Milan Court of Appeal ordered the shutdown of the plant's hot area by October 26. Gozzi ruled out waiting for an appeal to the Court of Cassation, which would take at least two years.
