According to the newspaper Il Tempo, the British daily The Telegraph published an accusation that Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, had a romantic relationship with a colleague during his time as general secretary of UEFA. The Telegraph also claims that Infantino promised the woman a career advancement. When she left her post, UEFA allegedly paid her a six-figure severance package.
Sky News described the payment as an "end-of-contract settlement." A spokesperson for Infantino denied the allegations to the same broadcaster, stating that he "vehemently denies every accusation and defines such reports as completely false and defamatory."
