According to Sky TG24, the wave of bad weather hitting Italy has put Liguria on orange alert, with roads closed and power outages, and forced the evacuation of hundreds of people in Lombardy, between the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo. In the Camonica Valley, there are 81 displaced people, mainly in the municipalities of Sonico and Malonno, where the Oglio River overflowed. In Rino di Sonico, a debris flow destroyed the bridge over the Val Rabbia stream, which has already been closed as a precaution, with no injuries reported.
In the province of Bergamo, six municipalities remain isolated: Valleve, Carona, Foppolo, Branzi, Valbondione, and Gandellino. Firefighters evacuated 150 people from these areas and received about twenty calls for help related to landslides, flooding, and fallen trees. Approximately 200 guests from a campsite in Isola di Fondra also left due to the risk of landslides upstream and flooding of the stream downstream.
In Tuscany, the storms unleashed approximately 18 lightning strikes, knocked down trees, caused part of the wall of the Pescia stadium to collapse, and resulted in power outages. In Montespertoli, winds reached 103 km/h. Rivers remain within their limits, but the Tuscany Region anticipates further deterioration starting on the morning of August 21st.
