Heavy rains eased the scorching summer heat in Italy, but the effects of bad weather that hit the south of the country are most visible in Scilla, Calabria, with flooded roads, rivers of mud and damaged seaside resorts.
On Friday, a huge mass of water flooded the streets of the coastal city, washing away cars and debris with the mud.
Among the most affected areas is also the island of Stromboli, invaded by landslides due to the lack of vegetation, destroyed by a fire.
In Sardinia, greenhouses were destroyed and plantations were also compromised in the Cagliari area, where several farms suffered major losses.
