Forza Nuova wants Italian consulates abroad to help citizens interested in returning to Italy find employment and housing before moving.
The proposal was presented by the movement's national secretary, Roberto Fiore, in a statement sent to... Italianism by the Brazilian section of Forza nuova, represented by Gabriel Maragno.
According to Fiore, starting in September the movement intends to push for simplified return procedures in countries where Italian communities live.
"May the consulates be points of reference for all those who wish to return to their homeland," the text states.
The Supreme Court reaffirmed: citizenship is born with the person.

The conservative Forza Nuova movement presents the initiative as a response to Italy's demographic decline and as an alternative to the influx of foreign workers.
The proposal had already been advocated by Fiore.
The idea of encouraging the return of Italians and their descendants living abroad did not originate with the statement sent to... Italianism.
In June 2025, a statement by Fiore published by the Italian agency Agenparl already advocated for the annual return of 500.000 Italians from South America, accompanied by incentives and tax benefits.
On December 31, 2025, Forza Nuova launched a campaign entitled "2026, the year of the return of Italians from abroad." Fiore reiterated his goal of bringing back approximately half a million people per year and explicitly mentioned the movement's activities in Brazil and Argentina.
The statement also reached the Italian media. On the same date, the Italian Press Agency Fiore's position was published in its national politics section.
The topic resurfaced in February 2026. In a statement on the 2nd, Fiore again called for the “return of Italians forced to live abroad.” Weeks later, during the inauguration of a Forza Nuova headquarters in Piacenza, the movement again reported that the leader had advocated measures to “facilitate the return of Italians from abroad.”
The novelty of the statement now sent to Italian Affairs lies in the mechanism presented: directly involving the consulates in preparing for the return, with the aim of securing work and a place to live before arrival in Italy.
Italians now have the right to return.
Italian citizens residing abroad do not need a visa or work permit to return to live in Italy.
For those registered with AIRE, the procedure for permanent return is carried out at the Comune where the citizen intends to establish residence. The municipality handles the issuance of the AIRE application and registration in the Anagrafe della Popolazione Residente (APR).
Consulates already perform functions related to assisting Italians abroad and can act in specific repatriation cases, mainly involving citizens in serious economic difficulties or minors in situations of abandonment.
The Forza Nuova proposal, therefore, does not create a right of return, which already exists. What Fiore advocates is expanding consular action to facilitate the economic and housing reintegration of those who intend to return.
In the statement, Fiore also criticizes the Flussi Decree of Giorgia Meloni's government and states that the policy would allow the entry of approximately 400 non-EU citizens per year.
The decree provides for 497.550 new jobs over three years: 164.850 in 2026, 165.850 in 2027, and 166.850 in 2028. The vacancies cover non-seasonal subordinate work, seasonal work, and self-employment.
The Constitutional Court's decision changed the landscape. The new citizenship law will now be reviewed by the European Union's courts of justice.
Fiore also claims that the immigration policy aims to "replace" the Italian population. This is a political interpretation by Forza Nuova. The official program links quotas to labor market needs and the organization of legal flows of foreign workers.
The Meloni government has already created a special route for descendants.
The Italian government itself adopted a measure in 2025 aimed at encouraging what it officially called "return migration."
A decree dated November 17, 2025, authorized foreigners of Italian descent from seven countries to enter and remain in Italy for subordinate work outside the ordinary quotas of the Flussi Decree.
The list includes Argentina, Brazil, the United States, Australia, Canada, Venezuela, and Uruguay. The text was published in Official Gazette It explicitly states that the objective is to encourage the return immigration of descendants of Italians residing in those countries.
This measure differs from the Forza Nuova proposal. It is aimed at foreigners of Italian origin who still need a migration route to work in the country. Fiore's statement, on the other hand, deals mainly with Italian citizens living abroad, with or without dual nationality, who want to re-establish residency in Italy.
