Italy and Brazil were the main highlights of the 2024 edition of the “Champions of Change”, from The World's 50 Best Restaurants, which rewards chefs or gastronomic establishments that have positively impacted their communities through social projects.

Caroline Caporossi and Jessica Rosval, owners of Roots, a restaurant located in Modena, were honored for developing a paid culinary training program for migrant women who enjoy cooking and want to become professional chefs.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition. We are proud of our graduates, so much so that Roots' success is only possible thanks to the value they bring to our kitchen every day”, declared the Italians.

Brazilian João Diamante, founder of the social project Diamantes na Cozinha, was also elected “Champion of Change” for offering cooking, nutrition and hospitality courses to vulnerable young people in Rio de Janeiro.

In total, the project serves around 100 students in semester courses. Furthermore, Diamante opened his own restaurant, called Diamante Gastrobar, and many employees are students who graduated from his school.

“This appointment is a great compliment and I am grateful for the appreciation of our work”, celebrated the Brazilian. (HANDLE)
