Meloni to attend Trump's inauguration in Washington

The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, in Washington, next Monday (20).

Meloni met with Trump on January 4th at Mar-a-Lago, Florida. The meeting discussed the case of Italian journalist Cecilia Sala, who was imprisoned in Iran for 20 days. The detention was in retaliation for the arrest of an Iranian in Milan, which was made at the request of the American justice system.

Since Trump's election, Meloni has emerged as one of the Republican and Elon Musk's main interlocutors in the European Union.

The Prime Minister also has international commitments in January. She will visit Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on the 26th, Manama in Bahrain on the 27th, and Belgrade in Serbia on the 31st.
