As imports Brazilians from foods e drinks da Italy rose 16,7% in 2022, rising from US$238,3 million in the previous year to US$278 million.
The data are from Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the Italian government agency for export promotion, and also show an expansion of 30,8% in the first quarter of 2023, from US$74,4 million to US$97,4 million.
These results confirm Italy in seventh place among the largest suppliers of food and beverages to Brazil and in second place among European countries, behind only Portugal.
“As statistics show, Italy still has a lot of room to grow in this market, as Italian cuisine is among the most popular among Brazilians, who, over the last few years, have been learning to understand and increasingly appreciate the value of the countless Italian products with controlled designation of origin”, says Ferdinando Fiore, general director of ITA in Brazil.
