There are three days left until the end of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Italy already has 36 medals in its vault, 8 gold, 10 silver and 18 bronze, and is close to a record.
There is already a first record: Never in history has Italian sport won so many bronzes. It was from Atlanta 1996, the Centennial edition, that the sport Porto Azzuro didn't win as many medals.
In Sydney 2000, there were 34 podium finishes. The previous record was 36 medals, dating back to the Los Angeles 1932 and Rome 1960 editions, where there were 12 and 13 gold medals respectively.
In the last three editions the medals won did not exceed 30, 27 in Beijing 2008, 28 in London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016.
The new law will now be reviewed by the European Union's courts. And there are European precedents that strengthen the defense of descendants.

So far, the Italy in the medals table it occupies eighth place, seventh in number of medals won, fourth at European level.
