Italy registered 36.293 new cases of Covid-19, totaling 5.472.469 infections, according to the Ministry of Health's daily bulletin.
The number – this Wednesday (22) – is the highest since November 20, 2020, when there were 37.242 infections.
There were also 146 deaths, bringing the number of victims of the health crisis to 136.077.

Nurse arrested in Italy who pretended to vaccinate in exchange for 400 euros
A nurse who pretended to inject the coronavirus vaccine, in exchange for 400 euros, for patients to obtain a vaccination certificate, was arrested this Tuesday in Palermo, Sicily (southern Italy), announced the Police.
The case joins other frauds that took place in the country to try to obtain the vaccination certificate necessary for many activities.
Instead of carrying out the vaccination, the nurse discharged the dose of vaccine onto gauze and then placed the empty syringe in the “patient's arm”, revealed images captured by a camera placed in the vaccination center where she worked.
Italy catches 308 unvaccinated doctors and nurses working
The Italian Carabinieri division specializing in health research (NAS) reported this Wednesday (22) that, between November and December, more than 300 doctors, nurses and healthcare operators who were not vaccinated against Covid-19 were caught working normally in the country.
