Italy records lowest unemployment rate since 2007

Italy's unemployment rate to hit 5,8% in October 2024, lowest since 2007, with significant increase in job creation.

A unemployment rate in Italy fell to 5,8% in October, the lowest value since April 2007, according to a report published this Monday (2) by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat).

The result indicates a reduction of 0,2 percentage points compared to September, while the unemployment level among young people aged 15 to 24 fell by 1,1 points, to 17,7%.

The number of people employed in Italy in October increased by 47 thousand units compared to September, reaching 24,092 million. Compared to October 2023, the increase was 363 thousand units.

Also according to Istat, the occupancy rate in October 2024 grew by 0,6 points, to 62,5%, while the inactivity rate rose by 0,1 points, reaching 33,6%. (Handle/Photo: Depositphotos )
