Peak heat is predicted for Thursday. Some regions should reach 42ºC
After a day of storms and flooding in several regions of Italy, high temperatures are expected across the country, reaching 42ºC. Italy is likely to face one of the hottest weeks in the last decade.
Starting this Monday (24), an anticyclone will pass through southern Italy, beginning on the island of Sardinia, and will move towards the mainland, raising temperatures across the country. The peak of heat is expected on Thursday (27) and Friday (28), with a minimum of 37ºC in Turin, Milan, Bologna and Rome.
This weekend, however, Italy suffered from torrential rain and flooding, mainly in Turin and Milan. The Emilia-Romagna region decided this Sunday (23) to declare a state of emergency.
