In the week in which the “International Women's Day“, the Italian singer Laura Pausini made a harsh criticism of newspapers that do not highlight women over 40 years of age.
(Laura Pausini was born on May 16, 1974. She is 48 years old)
“There is all this rhetoric that wants to push women, but then this happened to me, in at least 6 or 7 countries, that newspapers don't want to put a woman over 40 on the cover,” declared the artist in a long interview published on the digital cover of Billboard Italy this Friday (10).
Pausini also emphasized that, unlike what happens with older women, “men over 40 end up on the covers without any problems”.
“And newspaper editors are often women. Not all of them are like that and it’s not like they necessarily owe me coverage. But there is often a lot of talk that does not correspond to the facts”, lamented the singer and songwriter, who will perform a series of shows to celebrate her 30th anniversary in 2023.
During the interview, Pausini reinforces that, as a woman, she learned that it is necessary to “make this concrete”. “From 1993 to today, there has been a crazy change! It’s just that we still have to fight a lot and we have to convince ourselves that we can, even when we think we can’t anymore.”
Finally, the Italian explains that “to those who say 'already', because 'already' may have passed the right age to do a certain thing and are also a woman. However, “for those who have doubts about my proposals, I respond in only one way: so I do!”, he concluded. (Handle)
