Bad results and a wave of injuries led the Italian team to adopt unorthodox measures
Lazio of Rome is going through one of the most delicate moments of the season. Added to the wave of injuries that has left several players unavailable, coach Simone Inzaghi's team was eliminated from the Europa League last Wednesday after being defeated in Seville.
Having a break this weekend – their match against Udinese was postponed – Lazio returns to the field next Wednesday against Milan in an Italian Cup game. After that, the team faces Roma in a classic Italian league match.
For this reason, and to combat recent disappointments, President Lotito decided to resort to an unorthodox technique. According to the Italian press, the 'laziale' president called a priest to the team's training center to spread holy water around the facilities.
This type of “exorcism”, says the Italian press, was used to “ward off the negative episodes that occurred in Lazio during this period”.
This would have been the fourth time that President Lolito has resorted to the exorcism method, they add.
Lazio has three Brazilians in the team: midfielder Lucas Leiva (ex-Grêmio) and defenders Wallace Fortuna (ex-Cruzeiro) and Luiz Felipe (ex-Ituano).
Meanwhile, Juventus and Napoli are left in the championship. Check out the Italian Championship classification:
