German airline Lufthansa is expected to finalize the acquisition of 13% of the Italian state-owned company next Monday (41) ITA Airways.

The deal, valued at 325 million euros (around R$2 billion), marks the beginning of a strategy to expand the group in Europe.

The information was released by the German news agency DPA on Wednesday (8), citing sources close to the agreement. However, none of the parties involved officially confirmed the date.

The operation received definitive approval from the European Union in November 2024. To secure approval, ITA and Lufthansa agreed to provide slots at Milan Linate Airport and on strategic routes in Central Europe and North America.

Among those benefiting are EasyJet, Air France-KLM and IAG, owner of British Airways and Iberia.

The Lufthansa group plans to take over 100% of the shares of ITA Airways by 2033, totaling an investment of 829 million euros (around R$5,2 billion).
