The Italian Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro has a new Consul General. Massimiliano Iacchini took over the post left by Paolo Miraglia del Giudice, who led the organization for the last four years.
Currently, Iacchini headed the Office of Foreign Investments in Italy and Italian investments abroad.
Who is Massimiliano Iacchini
Massimiliano Iacchini was born in Fano (Pesaro-Urbino), in the Marche Region, on January 22, 1973. He is married to Sara and has two children: Emma and Emanuele.
A career diplomat since 1999, his experience as a consul was in Vancouver, Canada, where he headed the local consulate. Position he held until 2015 to 2019.
Graduated in Political Science from University of Bologna, and a master's degree in diplomatic studies at the Italian Society for International Organizations, in the first years of service he worked in the General Directorate of Multilateral Economic and Financial Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Between 2001 and 2005 he served as Deputy Head of Mission in Kuwait, and as Head of the Political Affairs Sector and Head of the Consular Chancery of the Italian Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia (2005-2009).
From 2009 to 2011 Iacchini headed the Multilateral Collaboration Office of the General Directorate of the Americas, focusing on Latin America.
From 2011 to 2015 he was Head of the Economic Office at the Italian Embassy in Cairo (Egypt).
