For the fifth consecutive year, "Pizzarium," located in Rome, a few steps from the Vatican, has been chosen as the best pizza by... piece of Italy, according to the “50 Top pizza 2024” guide.
The establishment is run by Gabriele Bonci, nicknamed the “Michelangelo of pizza” in the Netflix series “Chef's Table”, and who, according to the ranking, “is among those who revolutionized the art of bakers and pizza chefs”.
Second place went to the pizzeria “Lievito”, owned by Francesco Arnesano, also in Rome, while “Campana Pizza in Teglia”, owned by Daniele Campana, in Corigliano Calabro, Calabria, completed the podium.
The top 10 also includes the pizzerias “Antico Forno Roscioli”, owned by the Roscioli family, from Rome; “La Masardona”, run by the Piccirillo family, in Naples; “O Fiore Mio Pizze di Strada”, by Davide Fiorentini, in Bologna; “Tiri Bakery & Caffè”, in Potenza; “Tiella”, by Daniele Biagioni, in Rome; the “Davide Longoni” bakery, in Milan; and “Tellia”, by Enrico Murdocco, from Turin.
The new feature is the inclusion of “Eataly Fiumicino”, the first airport pizzeria to appear in the ranking, in 13th place.
In total, the guide confirms Rome as the capital of sliced pizza, with 10 places among the best, followed by Naples (four), Fiumicino and Turin (three each). The most represented region continues to be Lazio, with 13, ahead of Campania (six) and Calabria (four). (HANDLE)
