Porta questions Salvini about delays in issuing Brazilian driver's licenses in Italy.

The wait for a Brazilian driver's license in Italy has become the subject of official complaints in parliament.

Member of Parliament Fabio Porta questioned Minister Matteo Salvini about the "unacceptable" delays in converting the document, even though the bilateral agreement has been in effect since April 2025.
Member of Parliament Fabio Porta questioned Minister Matteo Salvini about the "unacceptable" delays in converting the document, even though the bilateral agreement has been in effect since April 2025.

The Italian deputy Fabio Porta, elected by the South American constituency, formally questioned the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, about the slow pace of the processes of driver's license conversion Brazilian women in Italy.

The parliamentarian points out that the delays persist even after the renewal of the mutual recognition agreement between the two countries. The treaty entered into force on April 28, 2025, after a suspension that had lasted since January 2023.

According to Porta, the regulatory vacuum of more than two years was followed by "unacceptable delays and serious territorial disparities" in the processing of applications. The congressman states that the situation generates negative consequences for the daily lives, employment, and right to mobility of citizens.

The parliamentarian, a member of the Democratic Party, reported that he continues to receive complaints about the unjustified delay in the delivery of documentation. He demands transparency and clear deadlines for the normalization of services throughout Italy.

“It is unacceptable that an international agreement already in force remains stalled due to administrative inefficiencies,” Porta declared in an official statement. The congressman demands that the government guarantee equal treatment for Brazilian drivers in the country.
