The autonomous Italian province of Bolzano, in the far north of the country, will be the first administrative unit in the country to test a “free pass” system for people immunized against Covid-19 in certain locations.
The initiative is called “CoronaPass” and will come into effect next Monday (26), the date of the reopening of bars and restaurants in Italy.
Prime Minister Mario Draghi's government only authorized service at outdoor tables, but the province of Bolzano decided to go a step further and allow customers in closed spaces.
However, bar and restaurant lounges will only be able to receive customers who present proof of vaccination against Covid-19, of being cured of the disease or of a negative test. The “CoronaPass” will work both on paper and, from May 5th, via a QR code on smartphones and will also give access to cinemas, theaters and museums.
The Supreme Court reaffirmed: citizenship is born with the person.
- New legal front opened
- Processes can still be filed.
- Individual assessment before any decision.
“Politics can only indicate the guidelines, now it is up to citizens to respect the rules, get vaccinated and tested”, declared the governor of Bolzano, Arno Kompatscher. Currently, the province's cities have 400 free PCR tests available to the population.
With just over 530 thousand inhabitants, Bolzano has 613 active cases of Sars-CoV-2, only 11 of which are in intensive care. According to the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health, the province has already recorded 70.665 infections and 1.158 deaths in the pandemic, while the whole of Italy has almost 4 million cases and around 118 deaths.
The Italian government is also studying the creation of a health pass for vaccinated people nationwide. (Handle)
