Newspapers and magazines in Italy reflect a map of surnames created by Italianism
What are the most common surnames in our beautiful Italy? To unravel this mystery, Italianismo created a map some time ago with the most common surnames, region by region. The result was a nice map that was featured in important newspapers and magazines in Italy.
Genova Today wrote: Perhaps driven by nostalgia for the beautiful country, they (Italianism) created a fun map.
The Leggo portal, from Rome, said that “the Italianismo portal, created by some Brazilians of Italian origin, decided to outline a map from Italy which, for each region, presents the most common first surnames: the size of the font is directly proportional to its presence in the local area”.
Our map was also featured on the portal of one of the most listened to radio stations in Italy, Monte Carlo, in Milan.
Focus magazine, one of the most important in Italy, used the map to illustrate a report on the history of surnames and in the caption wrote: “thes 20 most common surnames in each Italian region, grouped by Italianism, explained by the linguistic fragmentation of our country and the delay in the process of harmonizing the national language”.
Napoli Today took the opportunity to highlight that the most common surnames in the region where it operates are Esposito, Russo, Romano, Coppola, Ferrara, De Rosa, Sorrentino.
