Taffarel strengthens ties with Italy on official visit

Taffarel presents the Brazilian National Team jersey to the Italian Consul General.

Cláudio Taffarel, former goalkeeper for the Brazilian National Team and current member of the team's coaching staff, was received by the Italian Consul General in Porto Alegre, Valerio Caruso, this week.

During the meeting, Taffarel presented the diplomat with a Brazilian national team jersey autographed by the players. The visit took place at the consulate headquarters, located in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

A recognized Italian citizen, the former athlete maintains close ties with Italian culture and the Italian community in Brazil. According to an official statement from the consulate, the event was also a way to celebrate the shared passion for football between Brazil and Italy.

"We welcome world champion Cláudio Taffarel, current member of the Brazilian National Team's coaching staff," the consulate's official Instagram account posted. "Another opportunity to celebrate our love for Italian culture and football."
