Um earthquake in the Adriatic Sea frightened residents of central Italy this Wednesday (9) and was also felt in much of the north of the country.
According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the tremor occurred shortly after 7 am (local time), with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale and its epicenter on the coast of the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region.

The earthquake also caused a series of aftershocks, the largest of which was 4.0. In the city of Pesaro, people took to the streets in fear, afraid that buildings would collapse, but, with the exception of some cracks, there are no reports of casualties or damage so far.
“We are carrying out inspections, a lot of people are on the street, but no serious damage has been reported. Schools were closed as a precaution,” she told Handle the mayor of Pesaro, Matteo Ricci.
Classes were also suspended in other municipalities in Marche, such as Ancona, Fano and Senigallia, and train circulation on some lines on the Adriatic coast was interrupted.

The seismic shock was felt even in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, in the far north of the country.
