EU in red zone; only Italy and Spain in yellow

Only Italy and Spain in the European Union have yellow zones, so they do not yet present a high risk of contagion. The rest of the Union is in red or dark red zones.

This is what the updated map from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Ecdc) shows, according to Handle.

In Italy, Piedmont, Toscana, Umbria, Puglia, Basilicata, Sicily and Sardinia are in the yellow zone: the rest are red, except for Friuli Venezia Giulia and the province of Bolzano in dark red, that is, they present a high risk of contagion.

In Spain, Extremadura is yellow.

The highest incidence of cases, according to ECDC, is in Germany, Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg), Ireland, Greece and Eastern Europe. 

“If only we were in the situation in Italy,” Chancellor Angela Merkel said in Berlin as she announced some measures to contain the pandemic. “If we had an incidence lower than 130 infections like in Italy, or 150, I would feel better,” she said.
