In the heart of the Puster Valley there is a place where the charm of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, blends with an excellent tourist offer.
In winter, the Tre Cime area opens its doors to snow lovers who, from the village squares to the mountain huts, rediscover the authentic character of Trentino-Alto Adige, northern Italy.
The area offers a variety of activities that are not limited to skiing: you can also go sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. All this in the midst of breathtaking scenery, with 115 kilometers of slopes for all levels of fitness, served by modern ski lifts.
The most exciting descent is undoubtedly Holzriese 2, the steepest slope in Italy, which with a gradient of 71% is only suitable for professionals. If this is not your thing, don't worry, as the area is also known for offering typical dishes of the region, such as venison goulasch or tirtlan with barley soup.
From the Monte Elmo viewpoint you can admire the Meridiana di Sesto, a group of peaks that indicate the time when the sun sets on each of them. This “natural” clock was used by the ancient inhabitants of the valley.
Monte Baranci, in San Candido, is also part of the area, which lights up its slopes on Tuesday and Friday nights.
Despite the cold, the place has become popular with Brazilians in recent years, who tend to stay there for long periods.
