“It will be a moment of intense emotion. It is an emotion that I will also experience as head of a government that worked for a safe return, but also as a father”, added Conte.
In most of Italy, the return to school takes place this Monday (14).
For the resumption, the Prime Minister appealed to students to respect the rules stipulated to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, inside and outside the classrooms.
Furthermore, he addressed the teachers. “I applaud your extraordinary effort in these months of confinement, in continuing to teach remotely,” he said.
Among Italy's regions, Friuli and Venezia Giulia will resume classes on Wednesday; to Sardinia on the 22nd of this month; Apulia, Calabria, Basilicata, Abruzzo and Campania on September 24, after the regional elections.
Logistics failed
The main problem for the return of classes is that the individual seats for students, promised by the government, did not arrive, although 2,5 million desks were promised.
So far, there have only been a few thousand units.
It was also announced the sending of 11 million masks daily, which also did not reach the necessary quantity for all schools.
Notices sent to families even ask that children take facial protection from home.
The protocols established in Italy indicate that each class will have to enter and leave at different times and, if possible, through different gates, to avoid crowds. Times for using the bathroom, recreation and meals will also be organized.
If a student displays symptoms compatible with Covid-19 at school, the government has decided that they must be isolated and sent home as soon as possible, accompanied by their parents.
Health authorities in each municipality will be responsible for deciding whether the student should be tested for the new coronavirus, whether they will undergo 14-day isolation, as well as close contacts, which would also mean classmates and teachers.
