The return to school in Italy does not happen on the same day throughout the country. In the 2026/2027 school year, the first students will return to classrooms on September 7th, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. The last will be those in Puglia, on September 17th.
This happens because it is up to autonomous regions and provinces To define the start and end of school activities, respecting national rules and the minimum number of school days required.
In Lombardy, for example, classes begin on September 14th and end on June 8th. In Piedmont, the school year runs from September 14th to June 10th. In Sicily, schools open on September 15th and close on June 10th.

I want to analyze my case.Christmas and Easter also vary.
Christmas holidays generally begin between December 23rd and 24th and last until the first days of January, but the calendars are not identical.
The same applies to Easter. In much of the country, the suspension of classes is scheduled between March 25 and 30, 2027, but some regions add days or adopt specific calendars.
In addition to regional holidays, there are national festivities such as Christmas, New Year's Day, Epiphany, April 25th, May 1st, and June 2nd.
In 2026, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, on October 4th, will also be included in the national calendar, established by Law 151/2025. This year, however, the date will fall on a Sunday and, therefore, will not represent an additional day without classes.
Veneto brought forward the end of classes.
The Veneto calendar deserves attention. Initially, the region had determined that classes would end on June 12, 2027. After the publication of the national exam calendar by the Ministry of Education, the regional Giunta changed the date to June 8.
The decision was made because the first written proof of MaturityThe Italian high school graduation exam will take place on June 16, 2027. With the previous closing date of June 12, schools would have had only a few days to conduct the exams and communicate the admission results to students.
