Tycoon's son goes to mass aboard a Ferrari and priest is outraged
A historic moment in a child's life deserves a great celebration, and with all the pomp. But not when it comes to going to First Communion Mass in a red Ferrari.
At least that's what the priest of a church in Bari, in the Apulia region of southern Italy, thinks, calling the episode "unacceptable. I've never seen anything like it. This has nothing to do with the sacraments," said Bishop Antonio D'Angelo.
The nine-year-old boy is the son of a local tycoon, published the Corriere della Sera.
Not far from Church of the Redeemer in Bari, another rich family brought a baby to be baptized, and also aboard a Ferrari. If the unusual scene wasn't enough, family members put on a fireworks display to celebrate the ceremony.
