Brazil will host a series of events in the coming days on the occasion of the 24th Italian Language Week in the World, which takes place between October 14th and 20th, with the theme “The Italian language and the book: the world between the lines”.

The traditional event, which has been taking place since 2001 in the third week of October, offers a vast free program with lectures, exhibitions and meetings held by the Italian diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Institutes of Culture (IIC) abroad.

Among the highlights of the 24th edition in Brazil is the meeting with the Italian writer Roberto Frabetti, who will present his book “Cari Genitori… Pensieri disordinati sul teatro per i piccolissimi” (“Dear Parents… Disordered thoughts about theater for young children”) on the 14th, at the IIC in São Paulo.

The work is an open letter addressed to all parents, especially those with very young children, to share part of the heritage of images and reflections regrouped in 30 years of theater for the youngest.

The IIC in Rio de Janeiro will host the ceremony for the “M'illumino / d'immenso” International Prize for translation of poetry from Italian to Portuguese on the 15th. The winner, chosen by a jury of experts, will receive a prize and the publication of their translations.

In Florianópolis, a group of readers will meet at the Italian-Brazilian Circle of Santa Catarina (CIB) on the 16th to participate in a Reading Club that aims to stimulate reading and reflection on some of the most beautiful pages of Italian literature.

On the 17th, the Italian consul in Curitiba, Eugenia Berti, alongside professor Luiz Ernani Fritoli and researcher Adriana Tulio Baggio, as well as invited readers, will discuss the female biographies of the book “As mulheres famosos” (Famous Women), by the famous Italian writer Giovanni Boccaccio, in the theater at A Fábrika.

The full schedule of the 24th Italian Language Week in the World can be found on the websites of consulates and cultural institutes. (HANDLE)
