Spain has officially opened an extraordinary immigration regularization process. The measure could benefit thousands of undocumented immigrants. including approximately 25.000 BraziliansThe deadline to request regularization runs from April. until June 30, 2026.
This initiative is part of the reform of the Immigration Regulations, approved by Royal Decree 1155/2024. The objective is to integrate informal workers into the formal market and address demographic challenges. The Spanish population reached 49,57 million people in January 2026, with more than 10 million born abroad.
Who can participate
The extraordinary window imposes strict criteria on applicants. Immigrants must prove residency in the country before December 31, 2025. They must also demonstrate at least five months of physical residence in Spain at the time of application.
Submitting criminal background checks from Spain and the country of origin is mandatory. Documents must be duly apostilled and translated. Errors or inconsistencies in the documentation may lead to the application being rejected.

Paths to legal residency
Spanish law provides for several ways to obtain residency beyond the extraordinary window. Visas are available for work, study, skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, and digital nomads.
