According to the Brazilian Association, food is present in 99,3% of Brazilian homes
O Macaroni Day is celebrated on October 25th, in Italy and Brazil, and in other countries, such as the United States, Mexico, Turkey and Germany.
The date was created in Rome in 1995, during the first World Pasta Congress, which brought together the main manufacturers from around the world.
Brought to Brazil by Italian immigrants, pasta was easily assimilated and introduced into the eating habits of Brazilians.
According to a survey carried out in 2018 by the Brazilian Association of Biscuit, Pasta and Industrialized Bread & Cake Industries (Abimapi), pasta is present in 99,3% of Brazilian homes.
The country is also the third largest producer of pasta in the world, according to a study by the World Pasta Organization (IPO).
As for consumption, Brazilians consume around 6 kg of pasta per person, well below the Italian average, where consumption is the highest in the world and reached 25,3 kg per person in 2013.

The origin of this food is still a mystery. There are records of types of pasta, which could have originated paste, in the history of several ancient civilizations, such as the Assyrians and Babylonians.
However, the most famous version is that the food was brought from China to Italy by Marco Polo in the 13th century. The Italians were its biggest diffusers and consumers.
Does pasta make you fat?
For those who love pasta, but are afraid of the scales, good news: pasta is not a diet villain. According to nutritionist Deborah Côrte, 100 grams of cooked pasta has the same amount of carbohydrates as a banana.
For her, the fact that pasta is a practical food, easy to prepare and “very tasty, by the way”, makes it an alternative meal. According to Deborah, when thinking about a diet to lose weight, it is best to avoid fatty sauces to accompany pasta.
