Almost half of the Italian population, 46,6%, was highly satisfied with their lives last year, reported the National Statistics Institute (Istat).
According to data from the agency, this level remained stable in relation to 2022. However, the proportion of people with “high satisfaction with life” increased among young people aged between 25 and 34, rising from 45,1% to 48,6 .3,5%, around +XNUMX% compared to the previous number.
The satisfaction expressed by the population as a whole is stable and at high levels.
A widespread recovery in satisfaction with free time and friendship relationships is confirmed, especially among people between 60 and 64 years old.
Personal economic satisfaction – with a share of 69,4% (+2,4%) – and professional satisfaction – 80% among employed people (+2,1%) – also showed positive signs.
In 2023, men were more satisfied with their personal living conditions than women (48,7% versus 44,8%) while satisfaction was lower among seniors over 75 years of age (39,4%).
Research on aspects of everyday life detects satisfaction with citizens' living conditions through various indicators. “It is one of the indicators used to assess the subjective well-being of individuals. It measures how much individuals feel that they are living a life that is in accordance with expectations beyond momentary contingencies”, concluded Istat. (HANDLE)
