Italy in Brazil

Laura Pausini, the 'most Brazilian Italian in the world', conquers SP

The concert launched the 13th album of his 25-year career, called “Fatti Sentire”

15 minutes after the scheduled time, the applause was already calling for his presence. Suddenly, without anyone realizing that she was already on stage, a black curtain collapses and Laura Pausini appears, wearing an all-black look and a shiny jacket. Calling herself “the most Brazilian Italian in the world”, the singer opened the “Fatti Sentire” tour this Monday (20) in São Paulo, at Credicard Hall.

The assigned seating wasn't enough to contain the audience. With each upbeat song, fans of the Italian artist stood up and sang along, jumped and danced, even though it wasn't allowed and many complained.

“You help me forget my problems on sad days, you give me the strength to believe in myself after 25 years,” said Pausini, emotionally. The first time the singer came to Brazil was in 1993, the year she released her signature song “La Solitudine.”

Amid jokes and jokes made in a drawling accent, Pausini spoke to the audience in Portuguese and asked the Italians to forgive her, but she wants to stay on Brazilian soil. “Tonight I want to give myself all to you. I don’t like things half-done,” she said.

The concert launched the 13th album of his 25-year career, called “Fatti Sentire”. To celebrate this anniversary, the show revives old hits and celebrates new songs. Pausini opened with “Non è detto”, from the new album, as well as “Frasi a metà”, “No River is Wilder” and “Fantastico”, but also brought “Simili”, from 2015, “Se Fue”, from 1993, and presented in Portuguese the songs “Tudo que eu vivo” and “Inesquecível”, both from 1996.

The singer's setlists change for each region in which she performs in order to please the local audience. And since Brazilians prefer her to sing in Italian, Spanish versions appear in few songs. Thus, most of the show is done in their native language, but Portuguese, English and Spanish also feature in the repertoire.

At one point during the show, the singer called two fans to sing with her on stage. One of them, Pausini stated that she already knew.

Her name is Larissa and she has been with the Italian since her first moment in Brazil. The other was Rafael, who caught the singer's attention in the audience and gained a few minutes on stage.

So, on a night that should have been a seated night, Laura Pausini conquered São Paulo standing up, cheered everyone at Credicard Hall and promised much more in the shows that are yet to come in Brazil: São Paulo (21/08), Brasília (23/08 ), Olinda (25/08) and Curitiba (27/08).
