In an unprecedented operation, Mayor Michele di Bari ordered this Friday (8) a rigorous investigation into all 92 municipalities in the province of Naples to identify Italian citizenships jure sanguinis irregular.
The urgent measure comes after the arrest of six individuals in Villaricca, including two Brazilians, accused of being part of a fraud scheme. The list VIP of clients benefiting from the criminal organization includes big names such as the TV presenter, Rodrigo faro, and football player Bruno Duarte da Silva, who currently plays for a Portuguese club.

Michele of BariKnown for his tough stance against corruption, he ordered a thorough review of Italian citizenship processes in the 92 civil registry offices. (Stato Civile, in Italian) across the province over the next 45 days. The provincial mayor's mission is to unmask all irregularities and punish those responsible with the force of the law.
Teams from the provincial city hall will be responsible for meticulously analyzing citizenship applications in search of anomalies or administrative failures that may have compromised the legitimacy of administrative acts in recent years.
The investigation into illegal Italian citizenship will focus on identifying:
- False or missing certificates related to the emigrated Italian ancestor;
- Claimants claiming the same ancestor;
- Fraudulent residence certificates, where the applicant pretends to live in Italy for a period;
- Housing units with several families without family ties;
- Individuals who declared residence in hotels or tourist accommodation.
The investigation of the Prefecture of Naples, covers a wider area, as many other administrative irregularities and family relationships between councillors, advisors and mayors in the northern region of the province also raise concerns.
