A new animation published on social media by the profile “History in 3D” reveals what the Coliseum in Rome, the largest and most famous amphitheater ever built in the world, in its golden age.
The project specializing in digitally reconstructing historical monuments compares the current version of the Colosseum with its structure at the time it was built, in the 1st century AD.
With an aerial tour of Piazza del Colosseo in the Italian capital, the ancient building transforms into a glorious stadium that could hold up to 50 people.
“Explore aerial views of what the Colosseum looks like today and what it looked like during the Roman Empire, surrounded by magnificent buildings and monuments worthy of its grandeur – temples of Venus and Rome, of the Divine Claudius, Baths of Trajan, Titus and Caracalla, Basilica of Constantine, fountains, porticoes, columns and many more,” says the caption of the video on the “History in 3D” Instagram account, which has already surpassed 375 views since it was published on October 15th.
